Shakespeare Mas Series: Pageantry in Carriacou’s Villages

The players gather to compete in the tiny villages of Carraicou

The players cool off between performances, as they walk the country lanes of Carriacou. Hanging their masks below their chins, carrying costume pieces.

Here the players stop for a drink at a local bar. You can see the structure they wear on their heads, below the masks, protecting their heads from injury when struck by the whip of the opposing player.

Here is a close up of one of the village houses seen in the background of a performances.

Not all those gathered for the performances are humans.
